Having had steering locks apart in the past on my 1977 RD250D etc - I know the key number is hidden on the top flat slide and is only visible when the lock is removed from the frame - does anyone know what where the common key numbers for this 1975 frame ? or does anyone have any spare keys to try as the lock is different to the UK type ? - if not I will have to take it to a lock smith to get the lock picked to remove it to find out the key number.

In the UK on our early models for 1973/1974/1975 for the first few years - I know a lot of the common lock key numbers Yamaha used - I just wondered if anyone knew the common lock numbers that were used for the FS1 frame locks for this year and model.

Am I right in thinking this bike was probably sold from new in Germany or Austria ? or do you think Holland ?

By the look of the register plate on the frame, i guess Germany or Austria indeed. G least; the language on it is German :P

I will assume its an Austrian bike then Peter as the swingarm and wheel rims where missing - looks like I will have to have a chat with a local locksmith then. 8) :D thanks

You can also drill out the lock and buy a new one from ebay.de.
They are sold separately, I also have one laying around for my 468 (also German, but 1978 model).
