1971 5 speed German SS Restoration

Berichtdoor Essex Fizz » 04 dec 2013, 19:10

Hi Guys my name is Jamie, i live in Essex in the U.K. I recently bought a 1971 5 speed German SS & plan to restore her to her former glory!
I hope its ok to as questions as i am not too familiar with this model. It looks mostly original apart from the rear light (no idea what that is off)
Here are some photos :D

indeed great original bike!
i would first drive it like this a little while, then you know everything works good and you can already enjoy it.

Thanks guys & girls, i would love to fire her up but at the moment she is not sparking :( but i did find a big nest in the left hand side panel  ! not surprising as she was rescued from a barn in Hamburg, so i suspect something got hungry & had a little nibble on the wiring! :) but i am going to completely rewire her anyway. The seat looks to be original is that the correct one for the model?

I've got that seat original on mine German FS1 too. And now a imitation seat, because the original was too far gone..
It was in a little more worse condition, when I find her in Germany, 3,5 years ago.

Yours is the Original '71 seat. Be careful with it.

Nice Street.
